At least two people were injured in a blast near a mosque in Rahim Yar Khan's Shafi Town area on Friday. Rescue officials claimed there were two attackers including a burqa-clad individual and another abettor. The burqa-clad attacker allegedly blew himself up while the other fled, according to rescue officials.

Local police sources told this scribe the burqa-clad attacker was a man who succumbed to his injuries after attempting to carry out a suicide attack. Deputy Superintendent Police Chaudhry Ashraf also said the explosion was a suicide attack. He said two people were injured in the attack. District Police Officer Rahim Yar Khan Zeeshan Asghar said that a suicide bomber made an abortive attempt to enter the office of Counter Terrorism Department. Police guards foiled his attempt. Then he blew himself. Consequently, two policemen injured and they were hospitalised immediately.
